After more than 25 years in Rwanda’s gospel music scene, singer Alexis Dusabe is preparing to meet audiences in the United Kingdom for the first time, where he will share the stage with preacher Rev. Dr. Antoine Rutayisire.
The two are scheduled to appear at The Hope UK Worship & Restore on December 19, 2026, an event designed to bring people together through gospel music, worship and Christian teaching.
Dusabe told InyaRwanda that he was excited about meeting fans in the UK, promising an engaging performance.
“It will be my first time in this country, so I am preparing to help my fans enjoy themselves. People should expect a lot,” he said.
The concert will offer Rwandans living in the UK an opportunity to reconnect through music and faith, while also welcoming other audiences interested in gospel music.
Dusabe’s music career began in 2000 with the release of “Umuyoboro”, a song that helped establish his name among gospel music listeners in Rwanda. Over the years, he has released songs including “Kuki Turira”, “Zaburi 23”, “Njyana i Gorogota” and “Ngwino”.
His repertoire draws on themes of faith, hope, comfort and Christian life, helping him maintain a presence in Rwanda’s gospel music scene as new singers and styles have emerged.
In 2025, Dusabe marked 25 years in music with a celebration at Camp Kigali on December 14. The concert also launched his album Amavuta y’Igiciro, featuring 12 songs in Kinyarwanda, English, French and Swahili.
By recording in four languages, the singer has sought to reach listeners across linguistic boundaries and extend his music to audiences beyond Rwanda.
His upcoming UK appearance will bring that ambition to a new audience, particularly among Rwandans living abroad who remain connected to gospel music from home.
Rutayisire brings a different dimension to the programme through his experience in preaching and church ministry. He has served in the Anglican Church of Rwanda, including as leader of Remera Parish, and worked with evangelism organisations such as the African Evangelistic Enterprise.
Beyond church leadership, he has been involved in initiatives promoting unity and reconciliation, using teaching and public engagement to encourage forgiveness and stronger relationships.
Rutayisire retired from his leadership role at Remera Parish in June 2023 but said at the time that he would continue his ministry through Bible teaching and other activities.
The event’s title, The Hoplast ae UK Worship & Restore, reflects its focus on worship and renewed hope. By combining Dusabe’s music with Rutayisire’s teaching, the organisers are bringing together two forms of Christian ministry for an audience in the UK.
Dusabe and Rutayisire are expected to bring music and Bible teaching to the December 19 gathering, giving attendees a chance to experience both parts of the programme in one event.
