President Paul Kagame and Republic of Congo President Denis Sassou Nguesso have discussed relations between their countries and the need for African-led solutions to challenges facing the continent.
The two leaders held bilateral talks on Sept. 10, 2026, on the sidelines of the International Space Summit.
According to a statement posted on X by the Office of the President, Village Urugwiro, Kagame and Sassou Nguesso reaffirmed the good relations between Rwanda and the Republic of Congo and exchanged views on joint programmes.
They also discussed the need to promote appropriate and sustainable African solutions to challenges facing the continent.
Rwanda and the Republic of Congo have maintained diplomatic and political ties and cooperation in several areas. Rwanda opened its embassy in Congo-Brazzaville in August 2016.
In November 2021, the two countries signed agreements covering military cooperation, higher education, land-related cooperation, sustainable development and environmental protection.
The agreements also covered efforts to promote trade between the two countries and expand cooperation in air transport.
