Primary, lower secondary exam results set for Aug. 18

Results of the 2025-26 national examinations for primary and lower secondary students will be released Aug. 18 at 3 p.m., the Ministry of Education said Friday.

The results will be announced ahead of the start of the 2026-27 academic year, which is scheduled for Sept. 7, 2026.

A total of 277,452 students sat for the national primary school examinations held July 7-9, according to the ministry. They included 154,351 girls and 123,101 boys who took the exams at 1,182 sites across the country.

More than 900 students with disabilities also took the examinations under arrangements adapted to their disabilities.

The national primary examinations were launched at Remera Catholic Primary School in Kigali by Education Minister Joseph Nsengimana. A total of 553 students sat for the exams at the school.

At the lower secondary level, 149,533 students were expected to sit for the 2025-26 national examinations, according to the National Examination and School Inspection Authority, known as NESA.

The candidates included 85,587 girls and 63,946 boys from public and private schools.
