Rwandan gospel singer Diane Nkusi has released Santa Israel, a song she wrote in 2012 and kept unreleased for more than a decade, saying the track was inspired by a difficult period in her life when she relied heavily on her faith.
Nkusi said she composed the song while facing personal challenges that led her to seek God’s protection and guidance. During prayer, she said she was reminded that, just as God chose Israel for a purpose, she too had been chosen according to His plan.
The song carries themes of faith, gratitude and trust in God’s protection. Nkusi said she hopes Santa Israel will encourage listeners to remain faithful and recognize what she describes as God’s continued care in their daily lives.
The audio for the song was produced by Ben Rugo. Nkusi described the track as one of the most meaningful works in her career because it represents her personal spiritual journey over the years.
Nkusi has been active in gospel music since 2010, when she released her debut album, Ndaguhaye Icyubahiro (“I Give You Glory”). The same year, she released Igitambo, a song that helped increase her recognition in Rwanda’s gospel music scene.
She is currently preparing a second album and plans to release another song titled Samuel the Prophet.
Beyond music, Nkusi is the founder of Rebekah Global Ministries, a Christian organization focused on evangelism, spiritual growth and teaching. She says her work combines music, faith-based teaching and ministry activities.

Born in Goma, Democratic Republic of Congo, in 1985, Nkusi now lives in the United States. She has studied law and public health alongside her work in gospel music and ministry.
Nkusi says accepting Christ in 2004 changed the direction of her life and inspired her commitment to serving God and sharing her faith. She is married to Edmond Nahimana, and they have one son, Jayden Edmond.
