Rwanda made a winning start to the 2026 ILT20 Continent Cup on Tuesday, beating Botswana by 55 runs at Gahanga International Cricket Stadium.
The match was played on the opening day of the tournament, with Rwanda winning the toss and choosing to bat first.
Captain Didier Ndikubwimana and Hamza Khan put together a 122-run partnership as Rwanda posted 192 for two from its 20 overs.
Botswana needed 193 runs to win but could not keep pace with the target, finishing 55 runs short after its 20 overs.
Ndikubwimana was named player of the match after helping Rwanda build a strong total.
The result gives Rwanda an early win ahead of its second match against Kenya on Wednesday.
Kenya also began its campaign with a victory, beating Sierra Leone by 94 runs in Tuesday’s other match.
Uganda will face Sierra Leone at 9:30 a.m. Wednesday before Rwanda plays Kenya at 1:30 p.m. at Gahanga International Cricket Stadium.
Rwanda will be looking to build on Tuesday’s result when it meets Kenya, which also opened the tournament with a win.
