Thousands turn out in Rubavu as Summer Country Tour 2026 concludes

Thousands of music fans filled Umuganda Stadium in Rubavu on Saturday for the final concert of the Summer Country Tour 2026, bringing to a close a nationwide series that attracted audiences across Rwanda.

The event drew residents from Rubavu District as well as fans from the neighboring Democratic Republic of the Congo, many of whom crossed the border to attend the concert.

Long before the performances began, crowds streamed into the stadium, with supporters singing along to popular songs and carrying banners backing headlining artists Bruce Melodie and The Ben. Their much-discussed musical rivalry remained one of the tour’s biggest attractions.

Saturday’s concert marked the final stop of the Summer Country Tour after performances in Musanze, Nyagatare and Nyamata in Bugesera District. Organizers said the tour was intended to take live music beyond Kigali while bringing entertainment to audiences in different parts of the country.

The lineup also featured performances by Kitoko and Bwiza, who joined the tour to perform for fans at its various stops.

In addition to the concerts, organizers incorporated exhibition spaces for small businesses and local entrepreneurs, saying the initiative was designed to link entertainment with economic activity by giving vendors and artists an opportunity to showcase and sell their products.

The strong turnout in Rubavu highlighted the growing demand for live music events and the continued popularity of Rwanda’s leading performers among audiences from both Rwanda and across the nearby border.
