The national basketball team will be seeking its first victory in the 2027 FIBA Basketball World Cup African Qualifiers when the second window tips off in Angola from July 2 to 5.

Rwanda enters the window still without a win in the campaign, following a difficult start in the opening phase last year, where it suffered defeats against Guinea, Nigeria, and Tunisia. The first window was hosted in Tunisia.

The squad was strengthened with the arrival of American center David Joseph McCormack, who previously played for Bayern Munich in Germany’s Basketball Bundesliga (BBL) and the EuroLeague The qualification journey began in November 2025 in Tunisia, while Egypt and Senegal hosted the second window in February 2026.

Meanwhile, the FIBA Regional Office Africa has confirmed the hosts for the third window following a Board meeting held in Abidjan, Côte d’Ivoire, on April 15.

Angola, Cameroon, and Senegal will stage the games from July 2 to 5, with each country assigned specific groups.

Cameroon will host Group A, Senegal will host Group B, while Angola will host Groups C and D. Group A includes Cameroon, Cape Verde, Libya, and South Sudan.

Group B consists of Côte d’Ivoire, the Democratic Republic of the Congo, Madagascar, and Senegal.

Group C brings together Guinea, Tunisia, Nigeria, and Rwanda, while Group D features Angola, Egypt, Mali, and Uganda.

Window 2 fixtures were previously held in Alexandria, Egypt, and Dakar, Senegal.

FIBA Africa also confirmed that the hosts for Window 4, scheduled for August 27 to 30, 2026, will be announced later.

The deadline for hosting applications was extended to May 15, 2026.
