Coffee was Rwanda’s biggest agricultural export earner between Sept. 21 and 25, generating $4.36 million as the country shipped 8,527 tonnes of agricultural and livestock products to international markets.
The National Agricultural Export Development Board (NAEB) said the exports generated a total of $10.46 million during the five-day period.
Coffee accounted for 635 tonnes of the exports, while tea brought in $668,935 from 217 tonnes.
Vegetable exports stood at 367 tonnes and generated $373,039, while 457 tonnes of fruits earned $455,706.
Rwanda also exported 12 tonnes of flowers worth $85,944 during the period.
Diverse and animal products generated a combined $4.52 million, making up the largest share of export earnings after coffee, according to NAEB data.
The products were shipped to markets including China, the United Kingdom, the Netherlands, Germany, the United Arab Emirates, Belgium, South Africa, Nigeria, Bangladesh and the United States.
Rwandan agricultural products were also exported to other African markets during the period.
The figures cover exports recorded by NAEB over five days and include coffee, tea, horticultural produce, flowers, livestock products and other agricultural goods.
