Rwandan dancer and choreographer Sherrie Silver says her demanding international career and shy personality have made it difficult for her to meet potential partners and develop a romantic relationship.
Silver, who has worked with several international artists, said she rarely meets men outside professional settings, while her frequent travel and projects leave her with little time for her personal life.
She shared the remarks in an Instagram post responding to people who often ask why she is not yet married.
“Honestly, I don’t meet many men, and when I do, our conversations are usually work-related. I’m also very shy, and sometimes I don’t know how to act when I’m around someone new,” she said.
Silver said her shyness can become even more noticeable when she meets someone she finds attractive.
“When I see a handsome guy, I immediately leave and find something else to do,” she said, joking about her tendency to avoid approaching men she likes.
She also recalled advice from someone who told her to spend less time in Rwanda if she wanted to find a husband, claiming that Rwandan men were intimidated by her.
Silver said, however, that being unmarried does not mean she is not interested in love or starting a family.
Her comments came after an Instagram follower praised her character and expressed surprise that she had not yet married, describing her as a good friend, daughter and person.
Silver has built an international profile through dance and choreography and has worked with artists including Nigerian singer Rema.
Her career has taken her across different countries, with her professional commitments often keeping her busy.
For now, Silver appears to be taking her relationship status lightly, ending her post with a simple request to her followers: “Pray for me, people.”
