Rwanda sweep Burundi to finish women’s volleyball group stage unbeaten

Rwanda’s women’s volleyball team completed an unbeaten group-stage campaign at the African Women’s Volleyball Championship with a 3-0 victory over Burundi on Thursday in Nairobi.

Rwanda controlled the match from the start at Ulinzi Sports Complex Hall, winning the opening set 25-6.

Burundi struggled to respond to Rwanda’s pressure in the second set, as Rwanda extended its lead with a 25-11 win.

Rwanda then closed out the match 25-13 in the third set to seal another straight-sets victory.

The result saw Rwanda finish top of Group D after winning all three of its matches without dropping a set.

Rwanda had earlier recorded 3-0 victories over Algeria and the Democratic Republic of Congo.

The unbeaten record sends Rwanda into the Round of 16 with a perfect group-stage record.

Rwanda is set to face the team that finishes fourth in Group B in the next round, with the final opponent depending on the outcome of the remaining matches in that group.

The team will now shift its focus to the knockout stage as it continues its campaign at the continental championship.
