
Al-Merrikh SC and Al Hilal SC made a strong start in their first ever Rwanda Premier League season.
Al-Merrikh stunned Kiyovu Sports 2–0 on Monday, with Dauda Ba scoring a long range strike in the 72nd minute and Mohammed Teya sealing the win in the 87th.
The victory gave them their first three points of the campaign.
Al Hilal opened their campaign with a 0–0 draw against Police FC on Wednesday.
Despite dominating much of the match, Al Hilal failed to convert chances, while Police defended well to maintain their top spot with 21 points from nine games.
This season marks the f irst time non-Rwandan clubs compete in the league, signaling a new era in Rwandan football.
