{"id":869,"date":"2025-02-24T14:29:24","date_gmt":"2025-02-24T14:29:24","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/thedawnrwanda.com\/?p=869"},"modified":"2025-02-24T14:29:24","modified_gmt":"2025-02-24T14:29:24","slug":"aldo-taillieu-wins-tour-du-rwanda-2025-prologue","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/thedawnrwanda.com\/index.php\/2025\/02\/24\/aldo-taillieu-wins-tour-du-rwanda-2025-prologue\/sports\/","title":{"rendered":"ALDO TAILLIEU WINS TOUR DU RWANDA 2025 PROLOGUE"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"787\" height=\"545\" src=\"https:\/\/thedawnrwanda.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/02\/Capture.png\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-870\" srcset=\"https:\/\/thedawnrwanda.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/02\/Capture.png 787w, https:\/\/thedawnrwanda.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/02\/Capture-300x208.png 300w, https:\/\/thedawnrwanda.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/02\/Capture-768x532.png 768w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 787px) 100vw, 787px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>Belgian rider Aldo Taillieu claimed the prologue that opened the Tour du Rwanda 2025 on Sunday, February 23.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>President Paul Kagame and International Cycling Union (UCI) president David Lappartient, were present to launch the official opening of the 17th edition of the continental cycling event which serves as a precursor for the 2025 UCI Road World Championship which will take place in Kigali in September.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Taillieu, who rides for Lotto Dstny Devo Team, completed the 4.1 km individual time trial (ITT) course which started at BK Arena towards the finish line at Amahoro Stadium, clocking 3 minutes 48 seconds and 91 milliseconds.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>His teammate Milan Menten finished in third place just behind TotalEnergies&#8217; Fabien Doubey who emerged second.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Taillieu will be wearing the yellow jersey when action resumes Monday with the longest stage, a 158km ride from Rukomo in Gicumbi District to Kayonza.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The best placed Rwandan rider in the prologue was Vainqueur Masengesho of Team Rwanda, who finished 31st, 23 seconds shy of winner Taillieu.
