Rapper Jay-Z will headline the 2027 Super Bowl halftime show, marking a new milestone in his partnership with the National Football League (NFL), which he has helped shape as a music producer and entertainment adviser since 2019.

The 56-year-old rapper will perform at Super Bowl LXI on Feb. 14, 2027, at SoFi Stadium in Inglewood, California. The NFL, Apple Music and Jay-Z’s entertainment company, Roc Nation, announced the news on Monday.

Jay-Z described the opportunity as a “dream come true,” linking the performance to the 30th anniversary of his debut album, Reasonable Doubt.

“From Reasonable Doubt to standing on the Super Bowl Halftime stage, this has been a journey,” he said in a statement. “Thirty years of music, work, and culture on the world’s biggest stage. This run continues to be a dream come true.”

Since Roc Nation partnered with the NFL in 2019, Jay-Z has played a central role in selecting and producing performers for the league’s major live entertainment events, including the annual halftime show.

Previous headliners during the partnership have included Shakira and Jennifer Lopez, The Weeknd, Rihanna, Usher, Kendrick Lamar and Bad Bunny.

NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell said he had hoped Jay-Z would eventually perform at the event himself.

“When we first reached an agreement with Roc Nation to produce the show, I had just one request: that Jay-Z take the stage himself one day, whenever the moment felt right to him,” Goodell said.

He added that he was excited for audiences worldwide to experience the rapper’s artistry and cultural influence at the event.

Speculation about the 2027 headliner had circulated for weeks before the announcement. Jay-Z’s appointment means he will take the stage at an event whose performers he has helped select for the past seven years.

Last year, producer Jesse Collins told Variety that the decision on who performs at the halftime show rests with Jay-Z, who has overseen the selection process since Roc Nation began working with the NFL.

The 2027 show will be part of Super Bowl LXI, which will air on ESPN and ABC and stream on Disney+, with mobile access available through NFL+.
