Today, we also received medicines donated by Rwanda as we continue to fight this outbreak,” Amoth said.

Kenya’s Ministry of Health has reported eight Ebola infections, including one death, as authorities continue efforts to contain the disease.

Ebola spreads through direct contact with the bodily fluids of an infected person, whether alive or deceased. Symptoms can include fever, vomiting and diarrhoea. Severe cases may lead to internal or external bleeding.

The outbreak in the Democratic Republic of Congo was officially announced in mid-May, although infections may have begun months earlier. It is caused by the Bundibugyo strain of the Ebola virus, for which no approved vaccine or treatment is currently available.

Uganda also reported Ebola cases in May and June but declared itself free of the virus in August.

Kenya’s receipt of the medicines adds Rwanda to the countries and organisations providing support as health authorities work to contain the outbreak.

Kenya has received medicines donated by Rwanda to support its response to an Ebola outbreak that has so far infected eight people and killed one, […]

[49,43,51,41,35,40

post-4687","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","hentry","category-africa-news","category-current_affairs","category-health","category-hot_topics","category-regional","category-top_stories
["GET
