{"id":4043,"date":"2026-09-28T11:43:21","date_gmt":"2026-09-28T11:43:21","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/thedawnrwanda.com\/?p=4043"},"modified":"2026-09-28T11:43:21","modified_gmt":"2026-09-28T11:43:21","slug":"five-markets-account-for-71-of-rwandas-exports","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/thedawnrwanda.com\/index.php\/2026\/09\/28\/five-markets-account-for-71-of-rwandas-exports\/economy\/","title":{"rendered":"Five markets account for 71% of Rwanda\u2019s exports"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"571\" height=\"350\" src=\"https:\/\/thedawnrwanda.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/09\/images-3-8.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-4044\" srcset=\"https:\/\/thedawnrwanda.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/09\/images-3-8.jpg 571w, https:\/\/thedawnrwanda.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/09\/images-3-8-300x184.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 571px) 100vw, 571px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">China, the United Arab Emirates, the Democratic Republic of Congo, the Netherlands and the United States accounted for 71.1% of Rwanda\u2019s exports in the second quarter of 2026, according to the National Institute of Statistics of Rwanda (NISR).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Rwanda exported goods worth $548.98 million between April and June, up 58.6% from $346.04 million in the same quarter of 2025. Exports also increased 49.6% compared with the first quarter of 2026.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Nearly $390 million of the total export earnings came from goods sold to the five leading destinations.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The figures show that while Rwanda\u2019s products reached markets across Africa, Asia, Europe and North America, a large share of export earnings continued to come from a limited number of countries.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">China was among Rwanda\u2019s biggest export destinations during the quarter and also featured among the country\u2019s five main sources of imports.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The other major sources of imports were Tanzania, India, Kenya and Uganda. Together, the five countries accounted for 60.8% of the value of Rwanda\u2019s imports during the quarter.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Europe also recorded stronger trade with Rwanda.
