Rwanda\u2019s RSSB Tigers missed out on a place in the FIBA Intercontinental Cup final after losing 114-95 to NBA G League United in the semi-final in Beijing, China, on Saturday.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The game was played at the National Indoor Stadium, where the Tigers were trying to become the first Rwandan and African team to reach the final of the competition.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

RSSB Tigers started strongly and led 30-22 with about two minutes remaining in the opening quarter. NBA G League United responded quickly, however, and finished the quarter with a 31-30 lead.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The American side maintained its narrow advantage in the second quarter, scoring 25 points to the Tigers\u2019 23 to take a 56-53 lead into halftime.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

NBA G League United then began to pull away in the third quarter. The team scored 29 points while limiting RSSB Tigers to 17, opening an 85-70 lead going into the final period.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Tigers tried to fight back in the fourth quarter, scoring 25 points, but could not close the gap as the G League side continued to find the basket.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Lester Quinones led NBA G League United with 29 points, while Craig Randall II was the Tigers\u2019 top scorer with 25.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The defeat ended RSSB Tigers\u2019 hopes of reaching the final, but the team can still finish among the top three in the tournament. It will play the loser of Saturday\u2019s other semi-final between Lithuania\u2019s Rytas Vilnius and Argentina\u2019s Boca Juniors in the third-place game on Sunday, September 27.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The 2026 tournament features six clubs representing basketball competitions from Africa, Europe, the Americas and China. RSSB Tigers entered the event as the reigning Basketball Africa League champions and became the first Rwandan team to compete in the FIBA Intercontinental Cup.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Tigers reached the semi-finals after a 117-115 overtime win over Shanghai Sharks, having recovered from a 19-point deficit in their second group-stage game.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
