Nduhungirehe and his Ukrainian counterpart, Andrii Sybiha, on the sidelines of the 81st United Nations General Assembly.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Sybiha said the talks focused on implementation of the Washington Agreements between Rwanda and the Democratic Republic of Congo, which seek to support lasting peace, security and development in the Great Lakes region.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The ministers also discussed international efforts aimed at ending Russia\u2019s war against Ukraine. Sybiha said African countries have an important role to play in advancing peace initiatives.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">He thanked Nduhungirehe for what he described as Rwanda\u2019s consistent support for Ukraine-related resolutions at the United Nations.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The meeting also covered ways to strengthen bilateral relations and expand cooperation in areas of mutual interest.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The talks came as Rwanda and Ukraine moved to facilitate diplomatic travel between the two countries. The ministers signed an agreement providing for visa-free travel for holders of diplomatic passports from both countries, according to Rwandan media reports.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Ukraine opened its embassy in Kigali in 2024, as relations between the two countries have expanded.
