class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Rwandan distance runners returned from international road races with three medals over the weekend, with Florence Niyonkuru, Adeline Musabyeyezu and John Hakizimana all finishing on the podium.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Niyonkuru opened Rwanda&#8217;s medal account by winning bronze at the World Athletics Road Running Championships in Copenhagen, Denmark.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The result was followed by another podium finish in Italy, where Musabyeyezu won the women&#8217;s 21-kilometre half marathon in Udine.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1000\" height=\"666\" src=\"https:\/\/thedawnrwanda.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/09\/whatsapp_image_2026-09-21_at_1.29_36_pm_2_-81074.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-3852\" srcset=\"https:\/\/thedawnrwanda.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/09\/whatsapp_image_2026-09-21_at_1.29_36_pm_2_-81074.jpg 1000w, https:\/\/thedawnrwanda.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/09\/whatsapp_image_2026-09-21_at_1.29_36_pm_2_-81074-300x200.jpg 300w, https:\/\/thedawnrwanda.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/09\/whatsapp_image_2026-09-21_at_1.29_36_pm_2_-81074-767x511.jpg 767w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 1000px) 100vw, 1000px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Musabyeyezu completed the race in one hour, 14 minutes and two seconds, finishing 32 seconds ahead of Italy&#8217;s Anna Frigerio.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Kenyan runner Nyaboke Nyabochoa was third in 1:20:05.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">In Argentina, Hakizimana claimed silver in the Buenos Aires Marathon after finishing second in the men&#8217;s 42-kilometre race.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">He crossed the line in 2:08:39, 16 seconds behind Kenyan winner Bethwel Chumba.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Another Kenyan, Felix Kiptoo Kirwa, finished third in 2:10:24.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The performances prompted praise from Rwanda&#8217;s Minister of Sports, Nelly Mukazayire, who said the results showed the country&#8217;s growing presence in international athletics.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cWeekend idasanzwe ku Mikino Ngororamubiri y\u2019u Rwanda,\u201d Mukazayire said in a post on X, describing it as an exceptional weekend for Rwandan athletics.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">She noted that Rwanda&#8217;s flag had been raised in three cities during international competitions and said the results reflected the country&#8217;s growing strength and ability in athletics.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The three podium finishes came at races in Denmark, Italy and Argentina, giving Rwanda a strong showing across three different international
