Rwanda and Oman have agreed to open resident embassies in each other\u2019s countries, in a move aimed at strengthening diplomatic ties and expanding cooperation between the two countries.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The agreement was announced Tuesday as President Paul Kagame ended a two-day official visit to Oman, during which the two countries also agreed to establish new mechanisms for coordinating and following up on bilateral cooperation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The two sides also agreed to establish a joint committee, a joint business council and a technical cooperation program to strengthen cooperation and follow up on bilateral agreements.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Kagame visited Oman on Sept. 7-8 at the invitation of Sultan Haitham bin Tarik. The two leaders held talks on expanding bilateral relations and identified investment, transport, energy, mining, tourism, logistics, communications, banking and finance as areas for deeper cooperation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Kagame\u2019s program in Oman also included visits highlighting the country\u2019s cultural heritage and its efforts to connect agriculture with tourism.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

He visited the Museum of the Frankincense Land in Dhofar, where he toured exhibits on Oman\u2019s history and culture and the importance of frankincense to the region\u2019s development. The museum includes a Heritage Hall, which covers the region\u2019s archaeological and cultural heritage, and a Maritime Hall focusing on Oman\u2019s history of seafaring and maritime trade.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Kagame later visited Razat Royal Farm, a more than 404-hectare agricultural facility in Dhofar Governorate. He was briefed on the farm\u2019s history, infrastructure and equipment used to support agricultural and livestock production.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The farm is also used for agritourism and educational activities, reflecting Oman\u2019s efforts to use agricultural sites as tourism attractions while expanding the contribution of farming to the wider economy.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The two leaders also discussed regional and international issues, reaffirming their support for security and stability and the peaceful settlement of disputes in accordance with international law.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Kagame praised Oman\u2019s role in supporting regional dialogue and peace, while Sultan Haitham expressed appreciation for Rwanda\u2019s role in promoting stability, dialogue and peaceful solutions in its region.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

At the end of the visit, Kagame thanked Oman for the hospitality extended to him and his delegation and invited Sultan Haitham to visit Rwanda.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Kagame and his delegation left Oman on Tuesday from the Royal Airport in Salalah. They were seen off by Sayyid Marwan bin Turki Al Said, governor of Dhofar.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Among the Omani officials present were Foreign Minister Sayyid Badr bin Hamad Al Busaidi and Anwar bin Hilal Al Jabri, minister of commerce, industry and investment promotion and head of the mission of honor. Nasra bint Salim Al Hashimi, Oman\u2019s ambassador to Kenya and nonresident ambassador to Rwanda, and Dan Munyuza, Rwanda\u2019s ambassador to Oman, also attended the departure.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
