{"id":3577,"date":"2026-09-07T11:02:07","date_gmt":"2026-09-07T11:02:07","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/thedawnrwanda.com\/?p=3577"},"modified":"2026-09-07T11:02:07","modified_gmt":"2026-09-07T11:02:07","slug":"kagame-condoles-tanzanias-samia-after-husbands-death","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/thedawnrwanda.com\/index.php\/2026\/09\/07\/kagame-condoles-tanzanias-samia-after-husbands-death\/politics\/regional\/","title":{"rendered":"Kagame condoles Tanzania&#8217;s Samia after husband&#8217;s death"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"672\" height=\"456\" src=\"https:\/\/thedawnrwanda.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/09\/images-1-3.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-3579\" srcset=\"https:\/\/thedawnrwanda.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/09\/images-1-3.jpg 672w, https:\/\/thedawnrwanda.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/09\/images-1-3-300x204.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 672px) 100vw, 672px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">President Paul Kagame has sent condolences to Tanzanian President Samia Suluhu Hassan following the death of her husband, Hafidh Ameir Hassan.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">In a message posted on X, Kagame said Rwanda stood with President Samia and the people of Tanzania during the period of mourning, honouring Ameir&#8217;s life and legacy.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Ameir died at 8 a.m. local time (0600 GMT) on Monday while receiving treatment at Emilio Mzena Memorial Hospital in Zanzibar, Vice-President Deogratius Ndejembi said in an official announcement.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Ndejembi said Ameir had been suffering from a heart condition and that funeral arrangements were under way in Kizimkazi, a village in Zanzibar.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">An agricultural academic who largely kept a low public profile, Ameir became Tanzania&#8217;s first First Gentleman when Samia took office as president in 2021.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Ndejembi conveyed condolences to President Samia, Ameir&#8217;s family and friends following his death.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Samia became Tanzania&#8217;s first female president in March 2021 following the death of President John Magufuli.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>President Paul Kagame has sent condolences to Tanzanian President Samia Suluhu Hassan following the death of her husband, Hafidh Ameir Hassan.
