Researchers caution, however, that most of the evidence comes from observational studies and does not prove that eating eggs directly prevents disease.

A 2025 study published in Nutrients found that older adults who ate eggs one to six times a week had a 29% lower risk of cardiovascular disease death than those who rarely or never ate them. The study involved 8,756 adults aged 70 and older and did not find the same association among people who ate eggs daily.

Another study published in Nutrients in 2023 found that regular egg consumption was associated with lower risks of high blood pressure and impaired blood sugar regulation or Type 2 diabetes. The researchers said the association was stronger when eggs were eaten as part of a healthier diet containing foods such as whole grains, fish and fiber-rich foods.

Egg consumption has also been linked to brain health. A 2026 study in The Journal of Nutrition, which followed nearly 40,000 adults aged 65 and older for about 15 years, found that those eating eggs five or more times a week had a 27% lower risk of Alzheimer’s disease than those who rarely or never ate them.

Research has found a possible link with bone health as well. A 2024 study in Food & Function reported that higher whole-egg consumption was associated with greater bone mineral density in the femur and lumbar spine.

Eggs are also a source of high-quality protein, which can help increase feelings of fullness and support weight management.

But the evidence does not mean that people should rely on eggs alone for better health. Overall diet, physical activity and other lifestyle factors remain important, while the effects of egg consumption may differ between individuals.

For consumers, the research suggests that eggs can be part of a balanced diet, but claims that eating them every day will prevent heart disease, diabetes or dementia should be treated with caution.

Eggs may offer more than a convenient source of protein, with recent studies linking moderate consumption to lower risks of cardiovascular death, high blood pressure […]

[43,51,41,36,40

post-3539","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","hentry","category-current_affairs","category-health","category-hot_topics","category-international","category-top_stories
["GET
