{"id":3280,"date":"2026-08-27T18:57:06","date_gmt":"2026-08-27T18:57:06","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/thedawnrwanda.com\/?p=3280"},"modified":"2026-08-27T18:57:06","modified_gmt":"2026-08-27T18:57:06","slug":"kagame-receives-outgoing-canadian-high-commissioner","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/thedawnrwanda.com\/index.php\/2026\/08\/27\/kagame-receives-outgoing-canadian-high-commissioner\/politics\/national\/","title":{"rendered":"Kagame receives outgoing Canadian High Commissioner"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1024\" height=\"902\" src=\"https:\/\/thedawnrwanda.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/08\/vvv.jpeg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-3281\" srcset=\"https:\/\/thedawnrwanda.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/08\/vvv.jpeg 1024w, https:\/\/thedawnrwanda.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/08\/vvv-300x264.jpeg 300w, https:\/\/thedawnrwanda.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/08\/vvv-767x676.jpeg 767w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">President Paul Kagame on Thursday received Julie Crowley, Canada\u2019s outgoing High Commissioner to Rwanda, for a farewell meeting at Urugwiro Village.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The meeting focused on relations between Rwanda and Canada and ways to further strengthen cooperation between the two countries, according to the Office of the President.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Crowley is completing her tour of duty in Rwanda after serving as Canada\u2019s first resident High Commissioner to the country.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Canada announced her appointment in December 2023, when she succeeded Christopher Thornley.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">During her tenure, Crowley represented Canada in efforts to deepen bilateral relations and advance cooperation between the two countries.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The Canadian High Commission has identified areas of common interest between Rwanda and Canada including inclusive and sustainable development, environmental protection, gender equality, peace and stability.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Crowley\u2019s departure follows a farewell meeting with Rwanda\u2019s Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation Olivier Nduhungirehe, who said she was concluding her tour of duty in Rwanda.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>President Paul Kagame on Thursday received Julie Crowley, Canada\u2019s outgoing High Commissioner to Rwanda, for a farewell meeting at Urugwiro Village.
