We are waiting for the detailed decision so that we can assess the next steps, including whether to appeal,\u201d Mugabe said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">FERWAFA dismissed Amrouche as head coach of Rwanda\u2019s senior national team in January 2026, citing several reasons for the decision.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"739\" height=\"415\" src=\"https:\/\/thedawnrwanda.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/08\/images-1-7.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-3196\" srcset=\"https:\/\/thedawnrwanda.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/08\/images-1-7.jpg 739w, https:\/\/thedawnrwanda.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/08\/images-1-7-300x168.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 739px) 100vw, 739px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Amrouche subsequently filed a complaint against FERWAFA. According to the FIFA decision, the amount awarded includes outstanding salaries, bonuses and compensation linked to the termination of his contract.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The ruling is the latest dispute between FERWAFA and a former national team coach over the termination of a contract. In 2018, former Amavubi coach Jonathan McKinstry was paid more than 150 million Rwandan francs following his departure from the national team.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Amrouche was appointed Rwanda coach in February 2025 on a two-year contract. During his tenure, he recorded one win, against Zimbabwe in September.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">He was later replaced by English coach Stephen Constantine, 63, who signed a two-year contract to lead the national team.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">FERWAFA is now reviewing the FIFA decision before determining whether to take the case to CAS.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>FIFA has ordered the Rwanda Football Federation (FERWAFA) to pay former Amavubi head coach Adel Amrouche $360,000 after ruling that his dismissal breached his contract.
