RwandAir has previously said additional aircraft would give it greater flexibility to pursue route expansion.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The carrier currently operates flights across Africa, Europe, Asia and the Middle East, while continuing to develop its long-haul operations.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The A330-200 has a typical seating capacity of 220 to 260 passengers, according to Airbus. The aircraft has a maximum takeoff weight of 251 metric tons in Airbus&#8217; current specifications, a length of 58.82 meters and a wingspan of 60.30 meters.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1024\" height=\"684\" src=\"https:\/\/thedawnrwanda.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/08\/RwandAir-yabonye-indege-nshya-ya-Airbus-A330-200.jpeg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-3191\" srcset=\"https:\/\/thedawnrwanda.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/08\/RwandAir-yabonye-indege-nshya-ya-Airbus-A330-200.jpeg 1024w, https:\/\/thedawnrwanda.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/08\/RwandAir-yabonye-indege-nshya-ya-Airbus-A330-200-300x200.jpeg 300w, https:\/\/thedawnrwanda.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/08\/RwandAir-yabonye-indege-nshya-ya-Airbus-A330-200-768x513.jpeg 768w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The fleet expansion is also linked to Rwanda&#8217;s wider aviation ambitions. Under the Transport Sector Strategic Plan 2024\/25-2028\/29, RwandAir&#8217;s destinations are expected to increase from 23 in the 2023\/24 financial year to 29 by 2028\/29. Passenger numbers are projected to rise from slightly more than 1 million to 2.1 million over the same period.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The government has identified expanded air connectivity as part of efforts to strengthen trade, tourism and the movement of people and goods, while positioning Rwanda as a regional aviation and logistics hub.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>RwandAir has added an Airbus A330-200 to its fleet as the national carrier moves to increase capacity on long-haul routes and expand its international network.
