{"id":2910,"date":"2026-08-11T08:49:02","date_gmt":"2026-08-11T08:49:02","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/thedawnrwanda.com\/?p=2910"},"modified":"2026-08-11T08:49:02","modified_gmt":"2026-08-11T08:49:02","slug":"police-warn-against-banned-alcohol-at-private-parties","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/thedawnrwanda.com\/index.php\/2026\/08\/11\/police-warn-against-banned-alcohol-at-private-parties\/politics\/national\/","title":{"rendered":"Police warn against banned alcohol at private parties"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"860\" height=\"644\" src=\"https:\/\/thedawnrwanda.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/08\/yyy.jpeg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-2911\" srcset=\"https:\/\/thedawnrwanda.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/08\/yyy.jpeg 860w, https:\/\/thedawnrwanda.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/08\/yyy-300x225.jpeg 300w, https:\/\/thedawnrwanda.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/08\/yyy-768x575.jpeg 768w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 860px) 100vw, 860px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Rwanda police have warned people organizing private parties against serving alcoholic drinks that have been withdrawn from the market, saying those found using the banned products could face legal penalties.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The warning follows the arrest of 20 young people at a house party in Kigali who were found drinking alcohol that had recently been removed from the Rwandan market.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">CIP Wellars Gahonzire, the Kigali city police spokesperson, said officers have encountered similar cases at private gatherings and urged organizers to ensure the drinks served at their events comply with market regulations.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cThose who use alcohol removed from the Rwandan market are going against the law, and we remind them that they can be punished,\u201d Gahonzire said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The warning comes as authorities continue to remove substandard alcoholic drinks from circulation.
