Small businesses showcasing products at Rwanda\u2019s 29th International Trade Fair, Expo2026, are looking beyond immediate sales, hoping the event will help them reach new customers, build business connections and open access to wider markets.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Held in Gikondo, Kicukiro District, the exhibition has brought together local entrepreneurs, manufacturers and international exhibitors displaying products ranging from beauty items and fashion accessories to children\u2019s goods, decorations and household products.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

For many small traders, the fair provides a rare opportunity to present their products to a larger audience and interact directly with potential buyers.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Iradukunda Kenia, who is exhibiting women\u2019s handbags, said the early response from visitors had been encouraging, with some customers already showing interest in her products.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cCustomers are asking about prices, and some have already started buying. We expect more visitors as the days continue,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Malaika Mwihoreze, who sells children\u2019s toys and accessories, said the exhibition could help businesses connect with more families, especially during the school holiday period.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cIt is still the beginning, but we believe more customers will come. Parents should bring their children because they can find products that interest them,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Although some exhibitors were still completing their stands and arranging products on the second day of the event, organisers said visitor numbers were increasing as people moved through different sections of the exhibition.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Private Sector Federation (PSF) said more than 150 Rwandan companies and industries had registered to participate, alongside more than 120 exhibitors from outside the country.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Expo2026 is expected to attract more than 500 exhibitors and over 300,000 visitors before closing. Organisers also expect more than 2,000 young people to benefit from employment opportunities linked to the event.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Beyond trade and sales, the exhibition is designed to strengthen links between businesses, consumers and investors while promoting products made in Rwanda and other countries.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

While Rwanda continues to promote entrepreneurship and private sector growth, small businesses taking part in Expo2026 hope the relationships built during the event will create opportunities that extend well beyond the exhibition period.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
