{"id":2422,"date":"2026-07-20T11:44:14","date_gmt":"2026-07-20T11:44:14","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/thedawnrwanda.com\/?p=2422"},"modified":"2026-07-20T13:03:37","modified_gmt":"2026-07-20T13:03:37","slug":"kigali-gains-new-gulf-connection-as-salamair-launches-muscat-route","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/thedawnrwanda.com\/index.php\/2026\/07\/20\/kigali-gains-new-gulf-connection-as-salamair-launches-muscat-route\/politics\/national\/","title":{"rendered":"Kigali gains new Gulf connection as SalamAir launches Muscat route"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full is-resized\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"628\" height=\"488\" src=\"https:\/\/thedawnrwanda.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/07\/images-11-1.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-2423\" style=\"width:834px;height:auto\" srcset=\"https:\/\/thedawnrwanda.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/07\/images-11-1.jpg 628w, https:\/\/thedawnrwanda.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/07\/images-11-1-300x233.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 628px) 100vw, 628px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Travellers between Rwanda and Oman now have a new direct air connection after Oman-based low-cost carrier SalamAir launched flights linking Kigali and Muscat, a route expected to strengthen tourism, business and trade ties between the two countries.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The new service, will start operations on Tuesday, will run twice a week and provide passengers with direct access between Rwanda and Oman, as well as onward connections to SalamAir\u2019s destinations in the Middle East, Asia, Africa and Europe.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full is-resized\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"678\" height=\"452\" src=\"https:\/\/thedawnrwanda.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/07\/images-10-1.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-2425\" style=\"width:840px;height:auto\" srcset=\"https:\/\/thedawnrwanda.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/07\/images-10-1.jpg 678w, https:\/\/thedawnrwanda.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/07\/images-10-1-300x200.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 678px) 100vw, 678px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The launch ceremony was held at Muscat International Airport and brought together officials from SalamAir, Oman Airports, the Civil Aviation Authority, Rwanda\u2019s Embassy in Oman, aviation partners and representatives from the travel and tourism sectors.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Rwanda\u2019s Ambassador to Oman, Lieutenant General Dan Munyuza, said the route marks an important step in improving links between the two countries.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cThe launch of direct flights between Kigali and Muscat marks a significant milestone in strengthening air connectivity between the Republic of Rwanda and the Sultanate of Oman,\u201d Munyoza said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">He said the service would support the movement of passengers and goods while creating more opportunities in tourism, trade and investment.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">SalamAir Chief Executive Officer Adrian Hamilton-Mans said Kigali\u2019s inclusion in the airline\u2019s network reflects its continued expansion into new international markets.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full is-resized\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"706\" height=\"433\" src=\"https:\/\/thedawnrwanda.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/07\/images-8-3.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-2426\" style=\"width:821px;height:auto\" srcset=\"https:\/\/thedawnrwanda.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/07\/images-8-3.jpg 706w, https:\/\/thedawnrwanda.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/07\/images-8-3-300x184.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 706px) 100vw, 706px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cKigali is an important addition to our growing network of destinations in Africa,\u201d he said, adding that the airline aims to provide affordable travel options while expanding global connections.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">SalamAir announced ticket sales for the route on April 30, 2026, ahead of the inaugural flight.
