South Africa Crushes Wales in Record-Breaking 73-0 Victory

RUGBY: The South Africa’s Springboks crushed Wales 73-0 in Cardiff, handing the hosts their heaviest home defeat ever and keeping them scoreless for the first time in decades.

The Springboks scored 11 tries, marking their highest tally against Wales under coach Rassie Erasmus and their 13th win in 15 games this season.

The victory was marred late on as Springbok lock Eben Etzebeth received a straight red for an eye gouge, facing a minimum 12-week ban.

Despite the setback, South Africa finished the season as the world’s top ranked team ahead of the 2027 World Cup draw.

Other notable achievements included Nahom Efrem (silver, junior), Mewael Germay (silver, under-23), and in the women’s events: Adiam Tesfu (silver, junior time trial), Monaliza Araya (bronze, under-23), Suzana Fesehaye (bronze, under-23), and Birikti Fesehaye (silver, road race), highlighting Eritrea’s growing dominance in African cycling.
