Reggae Icon Jimmy Cliff Passes Away at 81

Jimmy Cliff, the Jamaican reggae legend and star of The Harder They Come, died aged 81 on 24 November 2025.

His wife, Latifa Chambers, announced that he passed away after a seizure followed by pneumonia.

Known for hits such as You Can Get It If You Really Want, Wonderful World, Beautiful People, and I Can See Clearly Now, Cliff helped bring reggae to global prominence.

His acclaimed role in the 1972 film The Harder They Come further cemented his cultural impact. Awarded the Jamaican Order of Merit, he was praised by Prime Minister Andrew Holness as a “true cultural giant.”

Across a career spanning six decades, Cliff released over 30 albums, collaborated widely, and remained a powerful musical voice until his final album, Refugees, in 2022.
