Niger’s Moctar Mdou has won the second season of Secret Story Afrique, securing 46% of the public vote and earning over 20 million CFA francs (around 50 million Rwandan francs).
His victory follows a proposal to France Mpundu, Rwanda’s representative, who finished fourth. Moussa placed second with 34.4%, Sarah third with 18.8%, and Joel fifth with 0.4%.
The show’s second season featured 18 contestants from 16 French-speaking African countries.
Filmed in Johannesburg and produced by Banijay Entertainment, the format isolates participants from the outside world, requiring them to protect personal secrets while uncovering those of others.
The 2025 edition aired on CANAL+ POP and CANAL+ Magic, continuing the franchise that originated in France over 18 years ago.
Moctar follows Awa Sanoko of Côte d’Ivoire, last year’s inaugural winner, in claiming the continental title.
The season further showcased the appeal of reality TV formats adapted for African audiences, combining suspense, strategy, and interpersonal drama.
