Bamenya and Kecapu Dominate Mashariki Film Festival 11th Edition

Kecapu and Bamenya won cars at the 11th Mashariki Film Festival

Mukayizeri Djalia, known as Kecapu, and Benimana Ramadhan, known as Bamenya, won cars at the 11th Mashariki Film Festival.

Kecapu led the women’s category with 70,208 votes, followed by Uwamahoro Antoinette (Intare y’Ingore) with 32,317 votes.

In the men’s category, Bamenya came first with 80,748 votes, while Aime Valens Tuyisenge (Boss Rukundo) received 14,320 votes.

The total votes for women were 126,948, equivalent to 25,389,600 Rwandan francs, while the top male votes totalled 120,432, equivalent to 24,086,400 Rwandan francs. Combined, all votes amounted to 247,380 votes worth 49,476,000 Rwandan francs.

The two winners will each receive a Hyundai Sonata car valued at 13 million Rwandan francs, totalling 26 million Rwandan francs.

The Mashariki Film Festival began on 22 November and will conclude on 29 November 2025 at Serena Hotel.
