Eddy Kenzo Hits Backat Doubters OverGrammy Nomination

Ugandan artiste Eddy Kenzo has earned a historic nomination at the 2026 Grammy Awards for his song “Hope and Love”, a collaboration with Iraqi musician Mehran Martin.

This marks his second Grammy nod, following 2023’s nomination for “Gimme Love”. Kenzo said he was surprised by the news.  “I saw my name on the Grammy list while at a hotel in Mbale. My heart skipped a beat. I was overwhelmed with joy and thanked God immediately,” he remarked.

Responding to critics who doubted his eligibility, Kenzo emphasised that his music’s authenticity and connection to his Ugandan roots set him apart. “The difference between me and other artistes is authenticity. Everything I do in my songs rhythm, lyrics is me,” he said.

Kenzo explained that “Hope and Love” carries a message of hope and unity amid global challenges.

He reminded critics that Grammy nominations are based on quality, artistry, and message, not popularity. “Grammys focus on excellence in music, not fame or audience size,” he said.

For over a decade, Kenzo has remained a standout African artist, and Hope and Love could make him the first Ugandan to win a Grammy.
